Finding the right mood during the creative break is crucial. Feeling down is challenging, especially when searching for new startup ideas, and you should tell yourself you can build the next unicorns. Your brain is wired to your body, and what you do daily affects your mood tremendously.

What can we do to alter the mood?

The human brain is a tricky fellow — you should understand how to guide it, or it decides how to mess up your plans on your behalf. The following is a list of my top mood-boosting focus areas and my actions to enhance them.

#1 Better sleep
- No caffeine after 10 am (meaning coffee, coke, energy drinks…)
- Consistent bed and wake-up time, also during weekends
- No phone or TV an hour before bed, blue light glasses for late Netflix
- High-quality bed and blackout curtains
- Oura ring

#2 Exercise and calm down
- 30-minute to 1-hour walk outside every day
- Gym/Run/Krav Maga/Cycling 6 times a week
- Have breaks, use Pomodoro technic
- Stretching (my biggest improvement area atm)

#3 Inspiring environment
- Read, listen, and watch inspiring content (TED, podcasts…)
- Spend your time in inspiring places (like Startup Sauna)
- Schedule lunch or coffee meetings with inspiring people

#4 Positive mood
- Not reading news first thing or last thing in the day (they are often heavy these days)
- Times of gratitude: occasionally stop thinking about what is good in a moment and before bed what good happened that day
- Spending time with friends and loved ones

#5 Healthy eating habits
- Consistent food schedule, 4–5 meals a day
- Avoiding ultra-processed food, no energy drinks
- Not following any diet, but listening to my body
- 3–5 liters of water daily

#Bonus: Some (obvious) missing elements
- Mediation: I haven't been able to break this habit for some reason. However, I take breaks to think and practice gratitude, which is a form of meditation.
- Sobery: I like going out with my friends, so I end up drinking a few times a month. I know it’s something to improve; a sober curiosity is inside me. I have already moved to consume more or less alcohol-free alternatives.
- Journaling: I've tried journaling many times, but always forget to continue. I have a few weaknesses that prevent me from moving forward. However, I’m excited about what AI could do for it (maybe some business ideas around this cooking also).

That’s all for today folks, see you tomorrow! 🫡
